What is it?

The Citizenship Income (RdC), introduced as a measure to avoid poverty, is an economic support which aims to reintegrate people into the world of work and social inclusion. If all members of the family unit are 67 years of age or older, it takes the name of Pensione di Cittadinanza (PdC).

Requirements

Citizenship Income is paid to families who, at the time of submitting the application and for the entire duration of the benefit, are in possession of certain economic, citizenship and residence requirements that are:

Italian citizenship or of a country of the European Union;

Non-EU citizens with long-term residence permit, Non-EU citizens with international protection;

Stateless citizens;

Third country nationals, family member of an Italian or European Union citizen;

Residence in Italy for at least 10 years, the last two of which continuously.

Capital and Income requirements:

Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator (ISEE) of the family unit below 9,360 euros;
Real estate assets, defined for ISEE purposes , not exceeding 30,000 euros;
Movable assets, defined for ISEE purposes, not exceeding 6,000 euros increased by:
- 2,000 euros for each member of the family unit, for a maximum of 10,000 euros;
- 1,000 euros for each child following the second;
- 5,000 euros for each member of the nucleus with disabilities, defined for ISEE purposes.
family income not exceeding 6,000 euros per year, to be multiplied by the corresponding parameter of the equivalence scale (1 for the first member of the family unit, increased by 0.4 for any other adult member and by 0.2 for any other minor member, up to a maximum of 2.1). This amount will be equal to:
- 7,560 euros in case of citizenship pension
- 9,360 euros if the residence of the family unit is rented.

Other Requirements

No member of the family unit must be the owner, or have full availability of:

Vehicles that have been registered for the first time in the six months preceding the submission of the application;
Motor vehicles with a displacement greater than 1,600 cc or motor vehicles with a displacement greater than 250 cc, which have been registered for the first time during the two years preceding the submission of the application;
Ships and pleasure boats.

How much is it due?

The economic benefit (both for RdC and for PdC) is given by the sum of two components (share A and share B):

Quota A (annual amount)

It is calculated by multiplying the corresponding parameter of the equivalence scale (1 for the first member of the family unit, increased by 0.4 for each other adult member and by 0.2 for each other minor member, up to a maximum of 2.1 ) for the purposes of the RdC / PdC for:

6,000 euros, in the case of citizenship income;
7,560 euros, in the case of a Citizenship Pension

Quota B (annual amount)

In the case of a rented house, it is equal to the annual rent up to a maximum of:

3,360 euros per year (280 euros per month), in the case of Citizenship Income;
1,800 euros per year (150 euros per month), in the case of a Citizenship Pension.

Starting Date and Duration

The Citizenship Income starts from the month after the submission of the application and is granted for a maximum period of 18 months, after which it can be renewed, after a suspension of one month.
There is no suspension in the case of the Citizenship Pension which, therefore, is automatically renewed without the need to submit a new application.

Non è prevista alcuna sospensione nel caso della Pensione di Cittadinanza che, pertanto, si rinnova in automatico senza necessità di presentare una nuova domanda.
